TV Personality of the Year

On air personality who consistently manages to be on the cutting edge of what is happening in their chosen field, constantly crafting and reshaping their skills, and whose quality of work and professionalism sets them apart from their peers. They are able to establish and maintain goodwill for themselves and the station they represents and is constantly in the public eye – bringing further recognition to their station. This individual is the standard bearer for which all must aspire and strive to be like.

Name 3 or more activities during the year in which they are involved – can be on or off the station

Radio Personality of the Year

On air personality who consistently manages to be on the cutting edge of what is happening in their chosen field, constantly crafting and reshaping their skills, and whose quality of work and professionalism sets them apart from their peers. THE CARIBBEAN PEER AWARDS OFFICIAL NOMINATION RULES

NOMINATION RULES
• Only nominations received on the official peer awards website nomination forms will be considered.
No other form will be accepted.
• There is no limit to the number of nomination forms an individual can submit providing (1) above is adhered to.
• Supporting evidence must be supplied where the applicant is unable to accurately describe the nominee and to support and substantiate the nomination.
• Nominations must be submitted, on or before the specified date to be eligible for consideration.
Entries received after this date will not considered.
• The Trustees of the PEER AWARDS FOUNDATION may however make exceptions at their discretion.
• There is no entry fees for Nominations submitted for Personalities
• A fee of US$100.00 is to be paid for each individual work nominated, acceptance of nomination is subject to receipt of this payment in either cash or managers cheque payable to the PEER AWARDS FOUNDATION.
• The top four (4) finalist in each category to be considered for voting by Academy Members will be taken from the most votes in each category.
• Announcement of the finalist will be made at a special Nomination Announcement Function. Attendance will be by invitation only. All final nominees will be invited to the official gala presentation as the special guests of the PEER AWARDS FOUNDATION.

The Peer Awards Printer of the Year

From the following categories presented, the Printer of the Year trophy will be awarded.

7. Packaging & Labels

In addition to the Peer Awards there will be a Triple Excellence Award presented to a printer who has won a Peer Award in the same category for three consecutive years.

Printer of the Year Awards

The entries from the seven categories will compete for one of the most prestigious Peer Print Award – the Printer of the Year, the only award of its kind.

The printer named the 2010 Printer of the Year will receive an award, a fitting tribute for the master printer whose work stood out as the finest of the year’s vintage.

Judging criteria

The Printer of the Year Awards will be an annual event. The judging of the Printer of the Year Awards will be carefully structured to ensure the highest possible standards, coupled with a balanced perspective.

The Peer Award Foundation does not employ the Judges, but are representatives of recognized local & regional print institutions and/or associations or federations recommended by these institutions.

Judging

1. Judging committees of 4/5 members determine the winners in each category.
2. The entries of the overall winners are forwarded to another judging committee for the selection of the overall winner of the awards – the Printer of the Year Awards.
3. A broad scope of technical print expertise in the judges is required.
4. The judges ensure complete confidentiality and should they become aware of the names of the winners they may not divulge them prior to the awards ceremony.

Impartiality

1. Each entry will be a unique number to ensure anonymity.
2. All details about the printer and the submitter of an entry are withheld from the judging committee.
3. Judges with any involvement to an entry refrain from judging that entry.
4. Judge’s decision is final and no correspondence and/or discussion with entrants will be entertained.

Selection criteria

1. The selection of entries relies heavily on the technical expertise and experience of the judges.
2. Winners are initially chosen according to a point system, however the judges’ final selection is based on the unanimous agreement of the selection committee.
3. Separate criteria will in future be used for digitally printed material.
4. 20% of the criteria are related to the difficulty of the work, 55% to technical excellence 20% towards the overall impact of the piece and 5% to finish quality.

Degree of difficulty (20 points)

Printer results incorporating: degree of difficulty in the execution of the design; sheet size dimensions; number of passes; paper substance; equipment; printing process; web versus sheet printing; etc will be evaluated.

Technical excellence (55 points)

A number of technical parameters directly related to the skill and abilities of the printer are judged:
1. Dot structure and integrity 15 points
2. Ink density and colour consistency 15 points
3. Screen 10 points
4. Registration 15 points

Overall impact (20 points)

1. First impression.
2. General appearance
3. Innovation regarding techniques
4. Appropriateness of techniques.
5. Appropriate choice of paper surface and grammage.
6. Finishing quality such as creasing, folding, stitching, headlines and pictures across gutters and registration of backed images.

The design of the piece in not judged, although the overall impact is strongly influenced by design and appeal.

Finishing quality (5 points)

Quality of the finishing, including the binding, folding, embossing, die-cutting, gluing, punching etc.

The Lifetime Achievement Awards The Nominees

In selecting the ten (10) nominees we invited a number of noted and well respected Caribbean nationals to name a group of 10 individuals who they felt have made and continue to make a sterling contribution to the growth and on-going development of Caribbean media.

By confining the selection to 10 nominees they were forced to evaluate all contenders and arrive at a list that was truly representative and could stand scrutiny. Based on the final list of ten nominees we feel that the names truly represent some of the major players who have shaped and transformed Caribbean media over the years and still continue to do so.

As in former years The Peer Awards Foundation Board members considered all the nominations and made a decision on the final recipients.

The award is highly respected within and outside of the marketing profession and is quietly sought-after. The ownership of a PEER AWARD is recognition by one’s PEERS that you are regarded as among the very best.

The PEER AWARDS are positioned as the premier award within the marketing and advertising community and every piece of communication is designed to reinforce this image and position. It’s the award to have, to showcase to clients, friends and associates.

The PEER AWARDS is an industry and professional event and is not confined and restricted by the competitive environment, which often times define how we operate. The PEER AWARDS seeks to rise above the restrictive barriers and allow for the participation of all members, irrespective.

Special Category of Awards for 2010

Breakout Brands are brands from the region that now have a major impact and presence on markets outside of the region and designated international brands. Five (5) of these brands and the individuals/corporations responsible for their success will be honoured and designated Peer Awards Breakout Brands at the 2010 Caribbean Peer Awards Gala Event.

Peer Awards Brand Master – an Individual or Corporation who has clearly and without question demonstrated an ability to conceive and launch brands successfully and profitably that have stood either or both, the test of time and competition. It is proposed to present five (5) such awards at the event.

Nominations for these two groups will be open March 1st to April 30th 2010.
All properly submitted nominations will be posted on the blog site.

Submissions are to be emailed to caribbeanpeerawards@gmail.com and should include adequate supporting evidence of the nomination for the judges consideration. Submissions should also include contact information such as name, email address and telephone numbers.

The Judges will not be confined to the list of nominations and will be allowed to include other nominations as they see fit.

Judging of all the nominations will take place in May 2010.

The Final results will only be announced at the Gala Event in May 2010. There will be no prior announcement of awardees. Individuals and Corporations will however be advised of their nomination and encouraged to attend the presentation event.

The Judge's decision will be final. Voting will be by way of closed ballots submitted to an independent and reputable auditing firm who will keep the results until the night of the event. An auditors report will also be presented.
